School Profile

Shiloh High School is nestled in the southeastern corner of Gwinnett County, in northeast Georgia.  This location places it in convenient reach of all the attractions and amenities available in metro Atlanta.

As Shiloh enters its twenty-second year, it continues a tradition of academic excellence.  The school has been honored as a Georgia School of Excellence, and recognized as the School of the Year by the Gwinnett Rotary Club.  Shiloh uses the six period schedule to deliver instruction to nearly 1930 students of diverse backgrounds.  Our Georgia High School Graduation Test scores meet or exceed both Metro and Georgia averages and are closing in on GCPS averages in all areas of the test.

Shiloh High School has served as the center of the Shiloh Community and is active in many functions.  Shiloh continues to support and sponsor the Teen Dream Walk, which celebrates the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  For the past three years we have held school-wide assemblies to celebrate Unity in Our Diversity and Black History Month.  The school continually looks for ways to bring together students, parents, and community members from all of the Shiloh Cluster Schools.  We have established a strong Community School which offers a variety of classes ranging from drivers education to dance, from computer courses to foreign language classes.

The Shiloh Community Stadium was built on the hopes and dreams of the Shiloh Community.  It is envied by all who visit and was financed through tremendous Community support.  Shiloh High School continues to hold graduation exercises in the stadium, even as many schools move to the Gwinnett Civic Center.  The field of play has been officially named in honor of Coach Charlie Jordan, who spear-headed the financing and construction efforts during his tenure as both head football coach and athletic director.  Even now plans are being drawn up by the Shiloh Stadium Foundation to construct the visitors’ stands to complete this Community effort and dream.  Next to the stadium stands a state-of-the-art weight facility that is again being financed through Community funding.  This facility is used by all of Shiloh’s athletic teams, girls and boys.  Shiloh has a full and competitive athletic program and has won several State Championships in various competitions over the years.

Shiloh’s mission statement is simple and straightforward.  Our mission is to relentlessly pursue high-level learning for all students.  Our school improvement plans support this mission, and each department, including physical education and fine arts, is asked to direct its efforts to support student learning and emphasize effective learning and teaching strategies.  Shiloh has again made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress), which is a measure of student achievement used to mark a school’s accountability to its students and community.  Shiloh has implemented several research-based initiatives to support student learning, including an Academic Assistance Block, a Ninth Grade Academy, a Department Chair Leadership Institute and Departmental Professional Activities emphasizing effective learning strategies.

Shiloh High School envisions itself as the showplace school of Gwinnett County and the state of Georgia.  Just as GCPS envisions each of its schools to be world-class, so too do the faculty, staff, students, and Community of Shiloh.  Shiloh will boldly continue to place student achievement as our primary motivation and reason for existence.  Our vision is that students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds will choose to attend Shiloh High School because of its rich academic tradition and its mission of high-level learning for all students and adults.
